Moving Towards a Waterfall
In a digital homage to the experimental composer John Cage, Moving Towards a Waterfall is 4 minutes and 33 seconds of computer-generated brown noise that slowly increases in volume.
Haroon Mirza previously investigated the generative power of sound and noise in a series of architectural installations and kinetic sculptures that played with our perceptions of space. For Frieze Sounds New York, Mirza will installed microphones inside the fair’s tent which absorbed background noises and the sounds of people moving through the booths, bringing the listener to focus on that universe of unheard voices that pervade public spaces.
