Hosted by Tom Morton, respected curators Jenni Lomax (Formerly director of Camden Arts Centre), Sally Shaw (FirstSite), Clarrie Wallis (Contemporary British Art at Tate) and Laurence Sillars (Henry Moore Institute) will discuss differing aspects of the wide-ranging practice of curating, and investigate the current curatorial landscape from varied perspectives. There will be presentations identifying key curatorial turning points, analysing case studies of landmark events, as well as practical advice. Each curator will discuss their own careers, but also take a global view on significant trends and offer insight into the future of curating.

This course is a must-attend for anyone interested in pursuing a career as a curator or studying in this field. 

Jenni Lomax was the director of Camden Arts Centre, London, since 1990, where she established a forward thinking programme of international exhibitions, artists, residencies and education projects. Lomax led the organisation through a major building refurbishment scheme which was completed in early 2004. She was awarded the Chevalier dans l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007, and received an OBE for her services to the Visual Arts in 2009. 

Tom Morton is the curator of over 40 exhibitions, including "Äppärät" at the Ballroom Marfa, Texas (2015), "British British Polish Polish" at the CSW Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw (2013) and the touring survey "British Art Show 7: In the Days of the Comet" (2010/11, with Lisa Le Feuvre). He has worked as curator at Cubitt Gallery, London and the Hayward Gallery, London. His writing appears regularly in frieze magazine, where he is a Contributing Editor, and he is the author of numerous exhibition catalogues on artists including Glenn Brown, Roger Hiorns, Rashid Johnson, Erik van Lieshout, Christian Marclay and Tino Sehgal.

Sally Shaw is the Director of Firstsite, Colchester, and was previously Head of Programme at Modern Art Oxford, Deputy Head of Culture for the Mayor of London and Senior Curator for London Underground. Her specialist background is in commissioning public art. Shaw has an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from Goldsmiths College of Art & Design.

Laurence Sillars is Head of Exhibitions at Henry Moore Institute, and was previously Chief curator at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. Sillars has worked on a wide range of exhibitions, projects and publications including solo exhibitions by Fiona Tan, Omer Fast, Daniel Buren, Lorna Simpson and Jim Shaw. Laurence co-curated the first Turner Prize exhibition to be held outside of London in 2007 and then again at BALTIC in 2011.

Clarrie Wallis is Senior Curator of Contemporary British Art at Tate. She is responsible for contributing to the planning, development and implementation of the exhibitions and displays programme at Tate with specific reference to British art from 1960 to the present. She has been a member of the Selection Committee for the Frieze Tate Fund since 2012. Exhibitions and displays at Tate include "Richard Long: Heaven and Earth" (2009), Patrick Caulfield (2013), BP Spotlight: Rose Wylie (2013), Mona Hatoum  (2016) and most recently Cerith Wyn Evans Duveens Commission (2017).
